The Federal Home (Internal Security) Ministry issued an official notification in this regard during the day. The notification came just days ahead of the announcement of general elections soon to be made by the Election Commission of India (ECI). Though dates are yet to be announced, the polls are expected to be held in April-May. Passed in December 2019, the CAA mainly aims at providing citizenship to migrants belonging to six communities, namely Hindus, Sikhs, Jains, Buddhists, Parsis, and Christians, who had entered the count
